It includes various steps like the rearing of baby oysters and the grafting and harvesting processes. So the process of cultivating Tahitian pearls is a long process which takes many years in order to produce a single pearl. Due to this factor the cost of Tahitian pearls is quite high.

The Tahitian pearls have some fixed standards which make them better than any other pearl. For example, a Tahitian pearl should have 80 % nacre substance on its surface in order to be a real Tahitian pearl. If a pearl has less than 80% nacre substance then it would be rejected as a Tahitian pearl. Tahitian pearls are quite expensive to purchase. Most people want to know why Tahitian pearls are so expensive. The reason for this is its rarity in nature. Moreover, these amazing pearls are in huge demand so that makes them even more expensive. For a single, small Tahitian pearl you may pay around $100. If you go for a bigger one then cost may increase to $1,000. But there are certain varieties in Tahitian pearls that are not as expensive as a top quality Tahitian black pearl. So you can get some affordable Tahitian pearls that fit your pocket but you need to do extensive market research.
