Tahitian Pearl Purity

Pearl Grading

Pearl Grading

The already expensive Tahitian pearl becomes more expensive if it is marked high in Tahitian pearl surface purity scale.

These pearls, for their unique characteristics, are deemed as the queen of all pearls. They are best-known throughout the world for their one-of-a-kind luster shine. They are rare and expensive as they are grown in the warm blue lagoons of French Polynesia inside the black-lip oysters. These oysters are really sensitive to their surroundings, and therefore it is really costly to cultivate this amazing gift of nature and even harder to produce pearls that are high in Tahitian pearl surface purity. Every set of pearls has their own natural markings such as blemishes, dents known as depressions, bumps, or outgrowths, etc.

The pearls that have less of these flaws on their surface are known to be highly pure, and therefore the pearls that get high ratings in the Tahitian pearl surface purity scale are expensive. Tahitian pearl surface purity or quality is greatly valued for its rarity. The pearls that score high in Tahitian pearl surface purity are sold in pearl auctions every year at a very high price. Depending on the surface purity, Tahitian pearls are divided into four categories: A, B, C and D.
