This is the first time that we see a theft on oyster “chaplets” witch contains pearls ready for harvest.
According to the owner of the pearl farm located in Raiatea Island, three lines of 200 meters long were cut. This is really hard to accept knowing all the job done to get these pearls but the worse is the financial lost estimated for about US$200 000 based on the lowest producer’s market price.
The company had filed a complaint against the thief and offer a reward to anyone having information on the thief.
